I highly recommend reading this book. While it doesn't describe what happened as the British/Hessian Troops marched south through Moorefield in December 1776, it does provide the events that happened in towns nearby. 

It also provides the full Map 1 on page 22 showing the troop movement through Moorefield (a snippet of it is shown above).
